Compress an image to 200 KB
Many forms cap photo uploads at 200 KB. Drop an image and ExactFit finds the highest quality that still lands under 200 KB — it only shrinks the pixel size if quality alone can't get there.

How it works
- 01
We encode your image repeatedly, binary-searching the JPEG quality for the best setting at or below 200 KB.
- 02
If even modest quality is too big, we reduce the dimensions in small steps and search again — never below the minimum size you set.
- 03
If a portal also has a minimum (for example 20–50 KB), set it above: very simple images get neutral padding so they still meet it, with no visible change.
- Typical square photo at 200 KB
- about 1290×1290 px
- Typical 4:3 photo
- about 1490×1120 px
- Upper bound we target
- 200,000 bytes (strict 1 KB = 1000 B)
Tips
- Start from the original photo, not a screenshot or an already-compressed copy — it compresses more cleanly.
- If the portal wants exact pixel dimensions too, use a resize page first or a document-specific tool.
- PNG is lossless, so it can't shrink much; choose JPG for photos.
Questions
How do I reduce a photo to 200 KB without losing quality?
Some quality loss is unavoidable at small sizes, but ExactFit keeps as much as possible: it always picks the highest JPEG quality that fits under 200 KB, and only lowers resolution when it has to.
Does 1 KB mean 1000 or 1024 bytes?
Portals differ. We aim below the strict figure (1000 bytes per KB for the maximum) so the file passes either way.
Is my photo uploaded?
No — compression runs in your browser with WebAssembly. The file never leaves your device.
Can I compress iPhone HEIC photos?
Yes. HEIC is decoded on your device and saved as a JPG every portal accepts.
