Compress a PDF to 2 MB
Upload portals often reject PDFs over 2 MB. ExactFit re-compresses the images inside your PDF until it fits, keeping text sharp and selectable whenever possible.

How it works
- 01
First we rewrite the PDF structure efficiently and strip metadata — sometimes that alone is enough.
- 02
Next we re-encode the scanned images and photos inside it at the gentlest resolution and quality that reach 2 MB.
- 03
Only if that still isn't enough do we rebuild pages as images (we'll tell you when this happens, because text stops being selectable).
- Target
- ≤ 2,000,000 bytes
- Text & vector graphics
- Kept as-is (unless pages must be rebuilt)
- Where it runs
- In your browser — no upload
Tips
- Scan documents at 150–200 DPI in greyscale when colour isn't needed; they compress far better.
- Split a long PDF into the parts the portal actually asks for — each part gets the full size allowance.
- Phone 'scan' apps often save huge PDFs; compressing here usually cuts them by 80–95%.
Questions
How do I get a PDF under 2 MB?
Drop it here. We'll pick the least aggressive compression that gets it under 2 MB and show the before and after sizes.
Will my text become blurry?
Not in the normal case: only embedded images are re-compressed. If a file can only reach the target by rasterising pages, we say so before you download.
Are password-protected PDFs supported?
Encrypted PDFs can't be modified without the password. Remove the protection in your PDF reader first.
Is my document private?
Yes. The whole process happens on your device; nothing is uploaded.
